From the south, take Interstate 95 to Route 166 (Exit 47B, Catonsville); follow signs to UMBC.

Baltimore-Washington International Airport is only ten minutes away. Bus service is available from downtown Baltimore. AMTRAK and MARC commuter trains serve the nearby BWI Rail Station. The cost of a taxi ride to/from BWI or the BWI Rail Station should be $20.

There are free UMBC shuttle buses that stop at the Halethorpe MARC station (schedule) and the BWI Amtrak/MARC station (schedule). If you can show a college or university ID you can use the shuttle bus for free. If anyone without such a ID wants to use it, please contact us by email.  The Halethorpe MARC station is 35-40 minutes by foot or 10 by bike.  You can take folding bikes on MARC trains.

Parking

Metered visitor parking is available in the Walker Avenue Garage, which is adjacent to the library. To get to the Walker Avenue Garage, circle around Hilltop Circle (either direction) until you reach Walker Avenue. Take Walker Avenue toward the center of campus. The garage will be on your right, with visitor parking on the top deck.

If you need a parking permit, request one by sending email to masc-parking@cs.umbc.edu. Since we have a limited number of permits, please share rides where possible.

Hotel accommodations

If you want to stay overnight in the area, there are many hotels adjacent to the BWI airport that are convenient.  Al should be just a ten minute taxi ride from UMBC and some of them have a free shuttle to/from the BWI airport and BWI Amtrak station that might also be able to being you to the UMBC campus.  See http://bit.ly/BWIhotels for the results of a Google search for "BWI hotels".  Here are a few suggestions which are all clean and inexpensive.
